Polymer modified bitumen (PMB)

PG 80-10, PG 74-10, PG 70-26, PG 70-28 or SUPERPAVE

Polymer modification of bitumen has been commonly performed since the 1980s in order to decrease bitumen (and pavement) susceptibility to high and low temperatures, allowing reduction in common failure mechanisms as rutting and cracking.

Polymer modified bitumen (PMB) is one of the specially designed and engineered bitumen grades that are used in making pavement, roads for heavy duty traffic and home roofing solutions to withstand extreme weather conditions. PMB is a normal bitumen with the added polymer, which gives it extra strength, high cohesiveness and resistance to fatigue, stripping and deformations, making it a favorable material for infrastructure.

By changing the characteristics of normal bitumen with the addition of a polymer, either they are of elastomeric nature or elastomeric, we succeed to obtain bitumen that allow the mixture to be more cohesive, with much more strength and significant higher resistance to parameters like fatigue and permanent deformations for road pavements.

Advantage of using polymer modified bitumen

  •     stronger road with increased marshall stability value and greater Rigidity.
  •     better resistant towards rainwater and water stagnation.
  •     no stripping and no potholes.
  •     Better resistance to permanent deformation
  •     reduction in pores in aggregate and hence less rutting and raveling.
  •     Much higher durability

Kiapetro can comply with any standard requirements in the country of use, including EN 14023-2012 as well as ASTM D5976-00 and the PG Grading System (e.g. PG 80-10, PG 74-10, PG 70-26, PG 70-28, etc.) or SUPERPAVE™.

Bitumen PG 76-28

Bitumen PG 76-28 is new technology of modifying bitumen by mix of SBS and use of PG grades help asphalt in summer time to have toughness and in winter time elasticity which the normal asphalt in summer time become soft and in wintertime hard cold weather make it crack.

Bitumen PG 70-28

Bitumen PG 70-28 is PMB PG Bitumen which is graded based on its performance at different temperatures. Due to its natural properties petroleum bitumen is not able to create the conditions for long-term operation of pavement under modern heavy duty traffic and adverse weather factors.
