Bitumen PG 76-22 is PMB Performance Grade (PG) Bitumen which is graded based on its performance at different temperatures.
The main purpose of grading and selecting asphalt binder using the PG system is to make certain that the binder has the appropriate properties for environmental conditions in the field. PG asphalt binders are selected to meet expected climatic conditions as well as traffic speed and volume adjustments.
Application of Bitumen PG 76-22
Bitumen PG 76-22 use for road construction in heavy traffic roads and airport asphalt layers.
Using SBS to modify bitumen has some effect on bitumen performance as:
Increase HMA stiffness at high service temperatures
Increase HMA elasticity at medium service temperatures to resist fatigue cracking
Decrease HMA stiffness at low temperatures to resist thermal cracking
