Bitumen 40/50 is a standard Penetration Grade of Bitumen ASTM D946M, typically used as a Paving Grade Bitumen suitable for road construction and for the production of asphalt pavements with superior properties particularly in road and airport constructions and other similar applications.
This grade of Bitumen is mainly used in the manufacture of hot mix asphalt for bases and wearing courses.
Application of Bitumen Penetration Grade 40/50
The bitumen penetration grade 40/50 is a semi-hard penetration grade, with penetration between 40 and 50. Which is mostly used in road construction, asphalt pavement, and manufacturer of hot-mix asphalt.
The penetration bituminous asphalt with high penetration numbers which are soft, mostly used in cold weather conditions and hard bituminous asphalt (low penetration number) can be used for warm weather conditions.
